Workshop on thermodynamic modeling
Connecting Theory and Application: Tackling Challenges in Surface Complexation and Reactive Transport Modeling
What?
With this workshop, we aim to provide an opportunity to discuss your work in progress, as well as your current challenges and open questions, with other PhD students, postdocs, and senior scientists. You will be working on thermodynamic modeling approaches to tackle issues such as surface complexation, surface precipitation, ion exchange, incorporation, and reactive transport. We aim to pose and answer questions together, addressing topics such as competitive sorption, kinetics, dissolution, and precipitation reactions. Other interesting topics such as sensitivity and uncertainty analysis, inverse modeling will also be discussed, and we want to address issues such as databases and problems related to parameter derivation from raw data, e.g., overparameterization and parameter correlation.
The workshop offers networking opportunities for young and senior scientists, keynote talks, and participants are encouraged to present their research highlighting current questions and challenges. Depending on the abstracts submited and the open questions posed, we plan to offer time and space for discussions in smaller groups.
