ABC-SALT (VIII) Workshop
Workshop on Actinide-Brine-Chemistry

ABC-Salt (VIII) discusses research on the aqueous geochemistry and radiochemistry performed to ensure the long-term safety of a salt-based repository. 

Technical scope

• Overview talks on current repository projects 
• Actinide chemistry in brines (solubility, redox, complexation and aggregation)
• Brine chemistry and brine evolution 
• Metal corrosion
• Microbial effects in brines 
• Thermodynamic databases and modeling studies

The NEA Salt Club meeting is planned to be held in the afternoon of Tuesday, October 7th.

US/German Workshop | Thursday 9th to Friday 10th

15th US/German Workshop on Salt Repository Research, Design & Operation

The US/German Workshop is planned to begin at 8 AM on Thursday, October 9th, and continue until the end of the day on Friday, October 10th.

The meeting will have sessions on: 

• National program status, 
• Modeling, 
• Parallel breakout discussion sessions,
• Safety Case and
• Engineered Barrier Systems (EBS)

A Conference Dinner is planned on Thursday, October 9th
